The Saihanlata public-private partnership project, which began in 2017, entered trial operation recently, according to a July 2 report in the Baotou Daily.
The PPP project, covering an area of 19.4 hectares, was funded with an investment of 350 million yuan ($51.06 million).
The project includes a tourist reception center, a plaza and a tourist service center. All of the facilities were designed according to the national 5A-level scenic spot standards, officials said. The overall planning and creative design mainly highlights Mongolian cultural elements.
In addition, an above-ground tourist bus parking lot and a support parking lot on the second underground floor can accommodate some 500 vehicles and are equipped with an intelligent management system.
Saihantala Park, located in Baotou’s Qingshan district, covers an area of 770 hectares. It is the only wetlands grassland area in an urban region in Asia. Saihantala means “beautiful grassland” in the Mongolian language.
