International photographic exhibition showcases colorful Guizhou

The 12th PhotoChina Original International Photographic Exhibition kicked off in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on June 29, showcasing the province's natural sceneries, ethnic culture, and social development during the past 70 years.

This year, the exhibition has collected 1,500 works from photographers worldwide and is divided into three parts showcasing Guizhou's urban construction, transportation construction, rural areas, bridges, tourism, ethnic culture, big data, ecological environment protection, poverty alleviation, tea, and world heritage sites.

It is the fourth time that George Doupas, a Greek photographer, has come to Guizhou. He is especially interested in Guizhou's ethnic culture and wishes to hold an individual show to help more people learn about Guizhou someday.

Donal Turner, a French photographer and a graduate student in Beijing, said in fluent Mandarin that he will bring more friends to have a self-guided tour to discover more about Guizhou in the future.

The exhibition was first held in 2008, focusing on the inheritance and preservation of ethnic culture and intangible cultural heritages. In over a decade the exhibition has organized 573 thematic exhibitions with hundreds of thousands of works.

It has also arranged special exhibitions inmore than 20 countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France to exhibit the image of Guizhou at an international level.
