The number of high quality agricultural products in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has increased by 161 in 2018, thanks to the city's continuous efforts to promote its pollution-free, green, and organic products, as well as the endorsement of the Agro-product Geographical Indication.
In 2018, Guiyang constructed 135,000 mu (9,000 hectares) of standardized vegetable demonstration bases, more than 50,000 mu of high-standard new tea plantations, and six standardized livestock farms.
By accelerating the construction of the quality and safety traceability system for agricultural products, Guiyang conducted sampling inspections on nearly 90,000 batches of agricultural products and the pass rate reached up to 99.99 percent.
Green production has helped Guiyang construct 11,000 mu of provincial green paddy demonstration bases and 9,000 mu of county-level green paddy demonstration bases. An integrated prevention and control system for production bases has also been established.
Guiyang attaches agricultural brand development and has made great efforts to cultivate green and organic agricultural products. Regional public brands like Xiuwen Kiwifruits and enterprise brands like Qi Bu Gou, which means can’t get enough of foods in Chinese, have been promoted in term of their influence, recognition level, and positive reputation.
With the support of science and technology, Guiyang has set 165,000 mu of fields featuring green prevention and control technologies to cultivate high-quality, high-producing, and disease-resistant vegetable varieties.
By the end of 2018, Guiyang had 711 pollution-free, green, and organic agricultural products, as well as products endorsed by the Agro-product Geographical Indication planted in 2.49 million mu of fields.
