Yunnan province has achieved a promising situation in foreign trade with overall export and import trade of 67.86 billion yuan ($9.92 billion) in the first four months of 2019, up 10.1 percent year-on-year.
The monthly export volume of Yunnan has kept stable growth for four consecutive months this year and the contribution rate of Yunnan's export volume to the province's foreign trade growth exceeds 90 percent.
The province's export volume climbed to 28.15 billion yuan, an increase of 25 percent year-on-year, while its import volume amounted to 39.71 billion yuan with a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent. In April, the total import and export volume amounted to 18.15 billion, up 4.1 percent year-on-year and imported volume topped 11.16 billion yuan.
General trade import and export achieved a growth of 20.1 percent and border trade saw an increase of 12.1 percent year-on-year.
The trade volume between Yunnan province and countries alongside the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 48.46 billion yuan with a growth of 7.2 percent, accounting for 71.4 percent of the overall trade volume of the province during the same period.
Yunnan's trade volume with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reached 34.58 billion yuan, up 12 percent, while the growth rate of total trade volume between Yunnan and Latin America increased by 41.8 percent.
The value of Yunnan's exported mechanical and electrical products increased by 17.8 percent, while the value of its exported agricultural products increased by 12.1 percent. The total value of exported traditional labor-intensive goods achieved growth of 43.5 percent year-on-year.
Yunnan imported 3.88 billion yuan worth of agricultural products in the first four months of 2019, up 34.8 percent year-on-year, with 1.63 billion yuan of them being imported fruits, three times higher than last year's figure.
