The city of Zhanjiang has put more efforts to promote the "Caring Mother Cabin" public welfare program to safeguarded the special interests of female workers.
Last year, 13 caring cabins were built to provide a rest place for women and children, including four in public places and nine in government departments and enterprises.
The female workers committee of the Zhanjiang Federation of Trade Unions allocates a certain amount of funds to grassroots trade unions to support the program every year.
Caring cabins in public places can receive a construction fund of 20,000 yuan ($2,908), and those in other places can receive 10,000 yuan.
The additional efforts include judging the star rating of each caring cabin based on their construction status. Among the 13 cabins built in 2018, six were rated as either two stars or three stars respectively. The winners were given an award between 3,000 to 8,000 yuan.
Last year, the committee devoted a total fund of 197,000 yuan to the program.
Since the implementation of the program, it has received strong support from grassroots trade unions. The trade unions of the Western South China Sea Petroleum Administration have built five caring cabins since 2015.
