The opening ceremony of the 2019 Guizhou Tea Culture Season and the 13th Nanming Tea Culture Activities was held in Nanming district of Guiyang, Guizhou province on June 27.
At the opening ceremony, the application for Guizhou's ancient tea trees to be part of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, a world heritage equivalent, was announced to have officially started.
As one of the highlights of the event, the China Ancient Tea Tree Summit Forum kicked off after the opening ceremony. The forum invited authoritative geologists, botanists, and experts in tea culture to explore the origin of world tea.

Performances including dances, singing, and costume shows will be put on during the four-day event. Attendees can also sample teas while enjoying the entertainment.
Since it started in 2007, the tea promotional event has been held successfully for 13 consecutive sessions. It has made effective explorations in boosting local tea businesses and spreading tea culture, promoting the development of the tea industry in Guizhou.
