With the arrival of the summer vacation, cross-Straits routes for passengers, cargo and ro/ro (roll-on and roll-off) are starting a new round of peak passenger flow, local media reported.
A group of 250 exchange students from both sides of the Taiwan Straits arrived in Xiamen, southeast Fujian province, from Keelong, a port city in Taiwan, by sea on June 24.
Su Chien-min, the team's tutor from a college in Taiwan, said that it is the eighth time that the college has sent their freshmen and sophomore students to Xiamen for an academic tour.
Most of the students felt satisfied with the tour, added Su. It helped Taiwan students to get a better understanding of Xiamen and the rapid development of the Chinese mainland.
A series of preferential tourism policies have been rolled out for deeper exchange between youngsters from both sides of the Straits in Xiamen.
