The Administration for Market Regulation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre (STC) to promote Guangxi products and brands in their efforts to expand their presence in international markets.
STC was established in 1963 as Hong Kong's first independent and not-for-profit testing, inspection, and certification organization. It has gained recognition from accreditation bodies and organizations of countries worldwide, such as those from China, US, UK, Germany, Japan, and Canada, for ensuring product safety and quality compliance.
According to Feng Xuejun, deputy director of the Guangxi administration for market regulation, strengthening certification and inspection is not only necessary to improve supply quality and high-quality development, but also an urgent requirement for Guangxi to adapt to economic globalization and enhance international competitiveness.
In recent years, Guangxi has actively strengthened cooperation with the STC to expand trade between Guangxi and Hong Kong. To date, 36 products of 32 Guangxi enterprises have obtained Hong Kong quality certification, including fruits and vegetables, tea, as well as rice and rice flour.
Feng said that Guangxi will make full use of Hong Kong's global testing and certification qualifications, focusing on industries such as health, sugar, biomedicine, agricultural products, and cosmetics to promote more Guangxi products and brands in the international market.
He expressed hope that more Guangxi enterprises will take the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Hong Kong's international quality certification platform to open up a broader market and achieve greater economic benefits.
