Officials from 31 of the more than 60 foreign consulates in Guangzhou toured Zhuhai on June 21 to examine economic developments, especially in the private sector.
The group was joined by representatives of overseas chambers of commerce in Guangzhou. They were shown enterprises such as Zhuhai Seine Technology and Gree Electric Appliances, and talked to private entrepreneurs. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was also visited as a sign of the region's great development potential.
The excursion was sponsored by the Guangdong Federation of Industry & Commerce, Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and Zhuhai municipal government.

Guo Caiwu of the Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee called for more exchanges and cooperation in various fields. He noted that the benefits of the Belt & Road Initiative and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are waiting to be tapped.
Zhuhai was said to be ushering in a golden development opportunity, with competitive superiority bolstered by accelerated transportation construction, a good industrial foundation, and policy advantages. The special economic zone is to become a key gateway hub for the Greater Bay Area, core city of the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, and model of high-quality development along the coastal economic belt.

Adam Yousif, head of the delegation and consul general of Sudan, expressed hope that consulates in Guangzhou would promote exchanges between the industrial and commercial circles of their countries and Guangdong private enterprises. Full play should be given to each other's advantages to achieve win-win results, he said.
