Southwest China's Guizhou province recently released 12 measures for sorting household garbage to increase citizen participation and to clarify the requirements for local government departments.
The measures are expected to link household garbage sorting to household waste incinerating power generation, kitchen waste disposal, as well as recycling and utilization of renewable resources.
According to the measures, Guizhou will evaluate the household garbage sorting status of all regions and related government departments. The assessment will be carried out quarterly and annually, including self-assessment and selective examinations.
The measures simplify the evaluation processes. It will also promote the sorting, collection, transportation, and processing of household garbage, which will contribute to the construction of a pilot zone for the country's ecological civilization in Guizhou.
