Hangzhou, the capital of East China's Zhejiang province, signed a comprehensive strategic agreement with Zhejiang University on June 24 -- amid efforts to cement ties between the city and the university.
According to the agreement, both have committed to cooperating on a number of projects, including the Hangzhou International Science and Innovation Center, the Zhejiang University (Yuhang) Institute of Basic Medical Innovation, as well as a research platform for the strategic development of city-university cooperation.
Officials said that the strengthened links aimed to boost the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, by breaking down boundaries from innovation to production.
The two sides also laid out a two-year and a five-year action plan with 159 projects involved.
The Hangzhou International Science and Innovation Center, located in Xiaoshan district, focuses on materials sciences, information sciences and life sciences and aims to become a world-class technological innovation center with great vision.
At the forefront of producing top professionals and thinkers, the alliance aims to attract top people from abroad and innovation teams, and build a pool of professional talents in the fields of the digital economy, biomedicines and advanced manufacturing.
