Huawei to build IoT innovation center in Lingshui

Chinese telecom giant Huawei is considering establishing an internet of things (IoT) innovation center in Lingshui Li autonomous county, Hainan province.

Xia Jun, vice president of digital government business sector of Huawei, announced the news at an IoT summit forum held on June 23 in Lingshui Li autonomous county.

The move aims to help the county foster an IoT industrial ecology, building it into a role model for IoT applications, as well as driving the transformation and upgrading of the county's high-tech industries.

At the forum, experts and scholars gathered to discuss the developmental trends of IoT in the backdrop of 5G technology, as well as how to promote the construction of smart Hainan.
According to the experts, Hainan boasts the most valuable marine resources and the integration of IoT with the marine industry can be the prioritized direction for Lingshui. If the research teams and enterprise resources are well-supported, the county will achieve research and application results leading the country and even the world.

Currently, Hainan is actively promoting the construction of 5G networks. In the next two years, the island province plans to deploy 4,200 5G base stations, exploring the application of IoT in areas such as smart cities, smart tourism, smart agriculture, smart medical care. The province will strive to build Lingshui into a pioneer and model city for the innovative application of IoT in the province, boosting its digital economy, as well as the construction of smart Hainan.
