Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, started constructing Hushan Sports Park on June 24.
With a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($217.99 million), the Hushan Sports Park includes two parts, a sports center and a sports park, encompassing an area of 402 mu (26.8 hectares).
Hushan Sports Park is a major provincial project and is the largest investment people's livelihood project in Jiangshan, says Jiang Li, director of the local sports bureau.
After its completion in three years, the park will be qualified to host the world weightlifting championships.
Another 34 projects also started construction in Jiangshan on the same day, representing a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan. They involved manufacturing, service industries and infrastructure.
