Hohhot, capital city of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was ranked among 20 top cities to beat the heat in China, according to announcement made by the China Meteorological Administration recently.
The national meteorological authority said that the list was compiled by its Public Meteorological Service Center and the China Tourism Academy.
Other cities ranked on the list included Ordos, Hulunbuir and Yakeshi cities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, as well as Yantai and Weihai cities in Shandong province.
Experts from the China Meteorological Administration and the China Tourism Academy also compiled lists of Chinese summer resort cities in June, July and August respectively.
Hohhot was also on these lists, because of its pleasant temperatures in the summer.
The capital city's annual average temperature in summer is between 17 C-22.9 C, which enthusiasts say makes it a truly attractive place to escape the heat.
The national meteorological authority also released the list of China's 10 Best Summer Resort Cities.
The cities ranked on the list are Changchuan, Guiyang, Liupanshui, Lijiang, Xining, Arxan, Fusong county in Baishan city, Dunhua, Xixiu district in An’shun city – as well as Pu'an county in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.
