A tunnel will be built to cut the distance between Love Post Office at City Parlor (Haibin Beach) and Xianglu Bay Beach near Zhuhai Fisher Maiden statue, avoiding the heavy traffic flow along touristy scenic spots on Lovers Avenue in Jida.
The city's Transport Bureau recently asked the Zhuhai Institute of Urban Planning & Design to come up with a detailed plan for the tunnel route, entrance and exit, connection with Haibin Park parking lot, and construction sequence.
For the moment, motorists heading for Yeli Island from Haibin Park must use the busy Central Lovers Avenue. Attractions are everywhere, causing heavy traffic during holidays.
The section of Lovers Avenue between Love Post Office and Xianglu Bay Beach, which bends around the Lingjiaozui U-shaped curve and past the Fisher Maiden statue, is under even greater traffic pressure.

The detailed tunnel transport plan is to provide status and planning analyses and demand calculations. It is to include researches on comparing and selecting the tunnel designs, the road network, transport nodes, slow traffic, public transit, and tourism distribution and transportation. Proposals for implementation will also be included.
Upon completion, the tunnel will remove tension from tourists and motorist along that section by the sea, noted a government official.
