East China's Jiangsu province saw 9.8 percent year-on-year growth of foreign trade with Belt and Road Initiative economies in the first five months of 2019, hitting 412.48 billion yuan ($59.75 billion).
It accounted for 24.3 percent of the province's total in the past five months, which stood at 1.69 trillion yuan, according to Nanjing Customs. From January to May, the province's import and export volumes with Vietnam, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia grew 23.4 percent, 39.9 percent and 15.4 percent, respectively. Exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 694.6 billion yuan, accounting for 66.2 percent of the province's total, up 4.6 percent year-on-year.
