Xiamen is home to a steady export growth and tangible business results, the local municipal statistics bureau announced recently.
Thanks to supportive foreign trade policies, Xiamen realized export sales of 135.45 billion yuan ($19.7 billion) in the first five months of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent. It has also introduced 459 foreign companies to the city and reached an actual foreign investment inflow of 6.02 billion yuan, accounting for 46.7 percent of the provincial total.
The financial revenue of Xiamen totalled 69.64 billion yuan from January to May, up 4.2 percent year-on-year. Tax revenue from VAT, corporate income and individual income have risen by 5.7, 2.6 and 4 percent respectively.
Xiamen also saw its fiscal expenditure increase by 13.8 percent to 37.28 billion yuan in the first five months, among which, people's livelihoods accounted for nearly 80 percent at 29.49 billion yuan, and those for community affairs, education, public health and social security took up 7.97, 6.49, 2.72 and 2.64 billion yuan respectively.
Tangible results have also been yielded in other business sectors. The added value for industrial enterprises above designated size, fixed-asset investment and wholesale and retail sales have increased by 8.1, 8.9 and 12.4 percent respectively.
