Haimen innovation, entrepreneurship base recognized

Company Haimen Hi-park has been honored by being selected as one of the provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship bases -- according to the list released recently of the third batch of provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration bases for Jiangsu province.

The company is the first and only one in Haimen city that has won the honor.

Located on No 100 Dongting Lake Road, Haimen Hi-park covers an area of five square kilometers. It boasts scientific research headquarters, business offices, scientific research training facilities, science and education expos, exhibition services and science and technology forums.

Officials said that after 10 years of development, it has successfully created three specialized areas, or marker spaces – Biomedical Science and Technology Park, International Small and Medium Enterprises Park and Linglong Street Cultural and Creative Park. They added that it has successfully attracted nearly 200 enterprises in related areas -- including biomedicines, electronic information and sciences and education -- to come and settle in the park.

In addition, a total of four Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians and 19 national-level experts have been recruited, and 12 people were selected to participate in a provincial innovation and entrepreneurship plan.

Officials said the park will continue to adhere to the industry + capital + platform model, taking biomedicines as the leading industry, to achieve the goal of making  total operating income from the biomedical industry hit 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) in three years.
