Zhuhai entices innovative entrepreneurs to settle in

Nearly three dozen skilled entrepreneurs were in Zhuhai from June 19 to 21 as candidates with great ideas that can boost the development of key industries in the city and the Greater Bay Area.

The 34 select PhD and post-doctoral fellows are graduates of prestigious domestic and overseas universities with much experience in large overseas enterprises or organizations.

They came to Zhuhai for project matchmaking and insight into the local innovation and entrepreneurship environment. They joined scores of other talents at the 2nd Domestic & Overseas Young Doctoral-Postdoctoral Scholars Innovation & Entrepreneurship Fair to exchange ideas and discuss cooperation.

As a prelude, 179 innovative and entrepreneurial teams from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the US, Brazil, and Portugal joined 21 finalists of the "Parafuturo de Macao" Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition in a roadshow to display their projects on June 19. Alongside were high-quality projects incubated by the University of Macau.

Meanwhile, 16 industrial leaders discussed ways to innovate scientific research at Zhuhai biomedicine, aeronautics and astronautics, information technology, smart-manufacture, and new-energy and materials industries.

They shared visions on how to break bottlenecks in key technologies and projects at a session with Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, Guangdong VTR Biotech, CYG Electric, Naruida, and 24 other companies.

Entrepreneurial projects of Macao and Hong Kong youths that settle in Zhuhai via the fair may receive subsidies ranging from 150,000 ($21,700) to 1 million yuan ($144,700). Up to 5 million yuan ($723,520) can be granted to outstanding projects under the Supportive Methods for Entrepreneurial Projects of Young Talents released by the Municipal Human Resources & Social Security Bureau last December.

Also during the fair, plaques were presented to Zhuhai's first 24 doctoral workstations, including Gree Electric Appliances, Huafa Industrial Share, and Orbita Aerospace Science & Technology.

The event was sponsored by the Overseas Students & Experts Service Center of Ministry of Human Resources & Social Security, Human Resources & Social Security Department of Guangdong Province, and Zhuhai Municipal People's Government. The Guangdong Talent Service Bureau, Zhuhai Talent Office, and Municipal Human Resources & Social Security Bureau handled it locally.
