A total of 550 Indian pilgrims, divided into 10 teams, are expected to make pilgrimages to Tibet this year, according to Yang Zhigang, deputy director of the foreign affairs office of the city of Xigaze.
Every year starting from May, Indian pilgrims make their religious visits to Tibet's Mount Kailash or Gang Rinpoche, as well as Mapham Yumtso Lake, also known as Lake Manasarovar.
Both sites are located in Tibet's Ngari prefecture and are considered sacred by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and the Tibetan Bon practitioners.
