An important supporting activity of the 11th Straits Forum, the Jimei study tour for Taiwan students, concluded recently.

The activity has been held for three years and has attracted a total of 5,000 Taiwan teenagers, along with their parents.

Jimei district in Xiamen, eastern Fujian province, has been taking advantage of its education system and two national-level Taiwan investment areas to foster exchange and cooperation among young people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The district has also adopted practices which have been implemented in other places around the world, and launched the first study tour headquarters in Chinese mainland, which covers a total area of more than 20,000 square meters.

The headquarters offers accommodations, teaching, and research and development.

Jimei has developed a "1+N" study tour mode – which refers to one headquarters and various educational sites. At present, a total of 29 sites, including 16 scenic spots and 13 universities and research institutes, are offering 122 featured courses.

This year's study tour gathered 255 Taiwan teenagers and their parents, 60 percent more than last year.
