Shanxi explore business opportunities in Germany

An economic and trade delegation from the Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour -- a roadshow promotion for the province's brands in the Belt and Road countries -- held a meeting with Chinese business people in Germany recently. 

The meeting, in the city of Frankfurt on June 16, was part of the Western Europe leg of the 2019 Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour. 

Representatives from German government, organizations and local companies -- such as the Hanover Investment Promotion Bureau, German Planet and the Shanxi Chamber of Commerce in Germany -- carried out discussions and talked about business opportunities with the Shanxi delegation. 

"Germany, the Europe's largest economy, is a close economic and trade partner of China which has been Germany's largest trading partner for two years," said Chen Hecai, chairman of the Shanxi branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. 

"The manufacturing and trade power has been an attractive investment destination for cities in China," Chen added. 

He hoped that companies in Shanxi and Germany would carry out industrial and business matchmaking and reach consensus on boosting commerce and trade, expand trading between small and medium-sized businesses, expand cooperation on R&D and look into third-party market cooperation at the Frankfurt meeting. 

Chinese business people who attended, who have developed their business in Germany, shared opportunities and prospects for Sino-German investment with the delegation.

Several Shanxi companies and institutions signed partnership agreements with German businesses and organizations at the meeting. 

The Shanxi delegation also visited German government departments, the ABB Robotics Research Institute and local tech companies including Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH. It also visited the Sino-German Science and Education Park in Heidelberg and the German Stuttgart automobile industry cluster.

The German offices of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Shanxi branch and Yangquan city branch, were established during the two-day visit in Germany by the delegation.
