Ningbo Huamao Foreign Language School, a private school integrating primary, secondary and high school education in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, recently signed an agreement with China Unicom to jointly build a 5G-powered intelligent campus.
A series of solutions based on 5G technologies will be applied to teaching and the management of the school, enabling long-distance interactive teaching and virtual reality-based immersive teaching, according to a spokesman from China Unicom Ningbo.
Big data analysis will be used to identify students' weak points in knowledge so that targeted solutions can be applied for strengthening these deficiencies.
Classrooms will be equipped with 4K high-precision screens and holographic projection technologies to enhance teaching methods.
Students' health will also be taken into consideration. Each student will be given an electronic bracelet that supports positioning, step-counting, and the measurement of body temperature and the heart rate. If a student's physical health deteriorates, the bracelet will send messages to notify his or her parents and the head teacher.
A total of 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) will be invested in the first phase of the project, and the construction of the necessary infrastructure is expected to be completed in September.
