The Jiangsu province hydrogen energy production, teaching, and research seminar was held in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on June 12.
The seminar was jointly hosted by the Jiangsu Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Innovation Alliance, the Jiangsu Society of Automotive Engineers, and the Jiangsu Institute of Engineers.
Experts and scholars from 12 universities and colleges, including Southeast University and Nantong University, as well as entrepreneurs from the auto and hydrogen energy sectors, attended the event. They discussed topics such as the training of professionals in the hydrogen energy industry and collaborative innovation between the hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industries.
Experts said that universities should train more professionals in the hydrogen energy sector and adjust their disciplines according to current development trends.
The government, industrial organizations, and companies should also cooperate with universities and colleges to provide support for the rapid development of the hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industries in the province.
Since 2010, Rugao has attached great importance to the development of the hydrogen energy sector, making it one of the first areas in China to develop a local hydrogen energy industry.
The city started building a hydrogen energy town in October last year, determined to transform it into a leading international hydrogen energy industrial cluster.
Rugao hosted the 3rd International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Congress last October, and will host the 4th from Sept 26 to 28 this year.
