A monocrystalline silicon project began in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 13, according to the Baotou Daily.
The project, carried out in cooperation with Wuxi Shangji Numerical Control Co, revolves around the construction of a monocrystalline silicon crystal-pulling production center.
The center will be built in the Baotou Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park. It is expected to receive 3 billion yuan ($433 million) in investment, which will primarily go toward the production of 5GW production-scale monocrystalline silicon crystal pulling and supporting facilities.
The production center is expected to earn 3 billion yuan in annual output value and generate more than 100 million yuan in profit and taxes.
It is expected to begin operating by the end of December.
