Xinji International Leather City

Xinji International Leather City, which started operations in 2010, is considered the best place in China for merchants and visitors to purchase leather products.

Located in Xinji, a county-level city in North China's Hebei province, the leather city is the only national 3A-level tourist attraction in the city. It has developed into the largest leather market in northern China, with more than 650 enterprises settled there, among which 32 are world famous brands. The number of daily visitors sometimes reaches 10,000 in the busy season.

The "one city, 10 centers" project enabled the leather city to cover a combined floor area of 4.69 million square meters, with a total investment of 16.8 billion yuan ($2.43 billion). The 10 centers are for on-site shopping, raw and auxiliary materials trading, brand products manufacturing, research and development and design, business reception, cultural tourism, pelt trading, international logistics and distribution, electronic futures trading, and international conventions and exhibitions.

In June 2018, the 2,583-sq-m Hengdian Cinema settled at the leather city, which opened for business on May 1, 2019.

Xinji has a long history of trading and making leather products, which dates back to the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC-1046 BC). The major leather industry in Xinji started in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and thrived through the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
