The Inner Mongolia Museum recently announced that it will limit the number of daily visitors to 15,000 in order to ease congestion at the site.
The 15,000-person limit was decided upon after extensive research on the museum's maximum capacity, and the restriction was put in place to relieve stress and safety concerns caused by large crowds during peak seasons.
According to the Inner Mongolia Museum, it receives large numbers of tourists from May 1 to Oct 7 every year.
The daily limit will apply in July, August, and holidays such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. During these periods, visitors, including both individuals and groups, will only be allowed to enter the museum by presenting printed admission tickets and a valid ID at onsite ticket machines. Tickets will be restricted to one per ID.
The policy of setting a daily quota is expected to prevent extreme peaks in the number of visitors.
