Hubei Provincial Seed Group Co Ltd, set up in 2017, is an international-oriented high-tech agricultural enterprise integrating research, development and distribution of seeds. The company has obtained the Seed Production and Business License and the Certificate of Import & Export.

The new headquarter of the company is located in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone with an area of 88 mu (5.9 hectares). The company has established centers such as seed processing center, seed storage center, seed quality inspection center, plant tissue culture laboratory, molecular biology laboratory and seed drying yard.

The new headquarter has also established a complete seed quality management system with four seed processing lines and a complete set of equipment for selection, packing, coating and storage of seeds with a processing and turnaround capacity of 20 million kilograms of seeds every year.

The company has over 180 professional and technical staff members involved in fields such as breeding, seed propagation and production, processing, marketing, international trade, agricultural technology service and promotion. Among all its staff members, 35 of them are senior technical experts, including two experts enjoying the State Council special allowances.

The company has established the exclusive crop seed production base of 10,000 hectares both inside and outside Hubei province, in which the annual amount of seed business is over 12 million kg, the annual turnover is over 200 million yuan ($28.96 million) and the annual export amount of seed is about 5 million kg. According to the statistics from the National Customs, the export of the company’s seeds ranked first in the domestic seed industry for three years running.

In addition, the company has set up bases for international seed testing in countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Srilanka, Ecuador, Peru, Canada, Tanzania, Benin and Sierra Leon and has dispatched more than 30 technical staff to carry out the breeding, testing, demonstration of new varieties and cross-breeding for new combinations all year round.

The company has successfully bred 24 varieties independently, 13 varieties together with others, 11 varieties having been registered abroad, 35 varieties have participated in national and provincial trials, 18 varieties are participating national testing abroad, ensuring that new varieties of the company are being registered domestically and abroad every year.
