The surge in innovation and entrepreneurship can be partly attributed to Zhejiang's administrative reform, which aims to cut down on excessive red tape. A government official explained that the increasingly streamlined administrative procedures have made it easier for people to start and run businesses.
Due to the province's strong support of science, technology and information, new businesses rise robustly in these sectors, providing a solid foundation for Zhejiang's high-quality development. From January to March, Zhejiang had 9,437 new companies focused on science and technology services, up 18.4 percent compared with the previous year.
Further optimizing the business environment is a priority this year for the Zhejiang government. The administration for market regulation pledged to implement a plan of action named "11551" in 2019, which includes the building of over 100 expert teams and the organization of 500 quality activities.
