The second German-style Oktoberfest beer festival will be held in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 19, organizers announced.
Organized by the governments of Hohhot and Munich, the festival will last until Aug 4 and will be part of the celebrations to mark the Zhaojun Cultural Festival, which is scheduled to open on July 12.
Oktoberfest is a traditional Bavarian folk festival that has been celebrated in Munich for over 200 years. It is also the largest beer festival in the world.
The festival came to Hohhot in July 2018, helping to promote the Zhaojun Cultural Festival and Inner Mongolia tourism in Europe, especially in Germany. It opened up a new chapter for Inner Mongolia's cultural exchanges and bilateral trade with other areas.
Hu Zhiqiang, a spokesman for Inner Mongolia Bopai Tourism Culture development Co Ltd which organizes the event, said the beer festival would offer traditional German food such as pork knuckle, as well as roast chicken and German-style beer – coupled with Inner Mongolia specialties and special delicacies from all over China, with the aim of showcasing Inner Mongolia's grassland culture and nomadic civilization to the world.
