The 3rd West Lake International Documentary Festival (IDF) on June 12 started calling for global entries.
The festival is held on the banks of West Lake in the city of Hangzhou, eastern China's Zhejiang province, every autumn. IDF 2019 will be held from October 18 to 20, its organizers said in Shanghai.
It is now open to submissions and recommendations of feature-length documentaries (60 minutes and above), short documentaries (less than 60 minutes) and documentary series (2 episodes or more or associated series) completed after January 1, 2018.
"The festival will offer a golden opportunity to collect high-quality documentaries from across the world and promote Chinese documentary education," said Liu Zheng, deputy director of the IDF 2019 organizing committee.
The D20 Nomination Competition will be the main section of the IDF 2019, which also includes screenings and forums, as well as training sessions by international filmmakers aimed to enhance the quality and professionalism of Chinese documentaries.
