More than 400 key companies from the sectors of internet, intelligent manufacturing and telecommunications attended a "5G Plus" themed activity in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, on June 11 to explore the possibilities of 5G.
The activity was in response to the cooperative ties between Zhejiang provincial government and four Chinese telecommunications giants established in late April, showcasing Shaoxing's determination in developing the emerging industry and marking the city's entry into the 5G era.
He Jiangang, director of Shaoxing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, announced the release of an implementation scheme for 5G development and a plan of action on digital economy. A total of 25 cooperation agreements were reached at the activity.
A public exhibition on 5G applications was open from June 11 to 13 on the sidelines, presenting advanced 5G products.
Shaoxing has included the building of 5G base stations into the city's overall planning of urban and rural areas. In the second half of 2019, a 5G experimental network will be constructed in Yuecheng district and be applied citywide one year later. By 2021, the whole city is expected to be covered by the 5G network.
