The Harbin Taiping International Airport experienced a spike in traffic during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which concluded on June 9, according to officials.
Statistics released by the airport reveal that it handled 1,155 flights and 159,000 passengers over a three-day period.
Staff at the airport said that domestic cities -- including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Kunming, Chongqing, Chengdu, Yantai, Xiamen, Jinan, and Qingdao, as well as international cities such as Seoul, Tokyo, and Osaka -- are the top travel destinations for Harbin residents. They said that most Harbin tourists visited these cities to enjoy summer scenery.
The number of passengers arriving at the airport peaked on June 9. Incoming flights were mainly from Beijing, Qingdao, Yantai, Jinan, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Kunming, and the passenger attendance rate was 85 percent.
