The construction plan for the first nanyin-themed park in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, was released recently. The exterior of the park will be completed in early July.
Nanyin is an ancient musical performing art central to southern Fujian. The slow, simple and elegant melodies are performed on distinctive instruments such as the dongxiao (a bamboo flute) and the pipa (a four-stringed Chinese lute).
Many landscape designs in the park reflect the elements of the culture, such as the entrance wall and the leisure pavilion as well as a performance square where nanyin performances will be staged.
The park, integrating culture, recreation and landscape is located in Xiamen's Xiang'an district, where nanyin has been passed down the generations for more than 400 years.
