The Southeast Digital Economy Development Research Institute in Quzhou, in Zhejiang province, established a China-Australia Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Research Center on June 6.
The research center will offer policy advice and information to the local government, to help advance the development of the local digital economy.
Yu Shui, a professor and tutor of doctorate students at the University of Technology, Sydney, was invited to manage the newly-established center.
Professor Yu will help the research center establish closer relations with his university -- in a bid to improve the quality of staff members as well as to promote preferential policies and the attractive business environment in Quzhou with top international talent.
He will also organize research teams, with the aim of making breakthroughs in key technologies and realizing the industrialization of the technologies in two to three years' time.
Established in November 2018, the Southeast Digital Economy Development Research Institute is dedicated to improving the innovation levels of the digital economy in Quzhou and attracting more digital economy talent to the city.
The institute now houses 67 researchers in eight teams covering digital space, virtual reality and three-dimensional information technologies.
