Cherry festival kicks off in Lushunkou

The grand opening ceremony for the 2019 Dalian (Lushunkou) Cherry Festival took place on June 5 at Lushunkou in the city of Dalian in northeastern China's Liaoning province, marking the beginning of its cherry picking season this year.

According to local media reports, the festival runs from June 5 to July 15.

During the festival, a series of activities are held, including cherry picking events, the selection of most beautiful cherry orchard, a competition for the popular farmhouse restaurant and a large cherry and agricultural products fair.

At the same time, season tickets for scenic attractions and cherry orchard picking will kick off, and e-commerce platform promotion activities are held to promote sales of Lushunkou large cherries.

Local authorities said that, series of initiatives would be rolled out to integrate the production, picking and sales of the fruit -- to enhance the brand influence of the Lushunkou cherry.
