Hezhou to build Guangxi Eastward Integration Pilot Demonstration Area

A press conference on Hezhou's establishment of Guangxi Eastward Integration Pilot Demonstration Area was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on June 6. 

Lin Guan, mayor of Hezhou, introduced the construction work of the demonstration area at the conference. He said that Hezhou is an important strategic fulcrum for economic integration, industrial docking, and cultural exchanges between Guangxi and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The city can also serve as the best bridge between the Greater Bay Area and the Chinese mainland. 

Since last year, Hezhou has compiled and implemented the work plan, development plan, and three-year action plan for the establishment of the Guangxi Eastward Integration Pilot Demonstration Area. It has introduced more than 70 new economic and business projects, as well as signed cooperation agreements with a number of universities in the Greater Bay Area. 

In 2018, the city's regional GDP increased by 8.9 percent, ranking third in Guangxi. Its fiscal revenue increased by 9.5 percent and the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 11.5 percent. In the first quarter of 2019, the city's regional GDP increased by 10.6 percent year-on-year, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 14.7 percent, and the added value of the service industry increased by 10 percent.

In the future, Hezhou will be committed to building a leading area for Guangxi to further its opening up efforts and cooperation to the east, highlighting the upgrading of traditional industries and the cultivation of new economy industries, as well as developing the agriculture, industrial, and service industries.

Officials also answered questions from media reporters at the conference about issues such as project implementation, investment promotion, business environment optimization, and industrial transfer.
