The push towards afforestation in Inner Mongolia autonomous region continues apace, local authorities said, and as of June 4 the afforestation area in the eastern area of the capital, Hohhot, covered 333 hectares.
Officials said the city has pushed its program for the construction of ecological barriers since last year, with the goal of securing environmental protection and restoration.
According to the plan, Hohhot will erect ecological barriers in Daqingshan Mountain, and in townships of Saihan district, with the target of having a total afforestation area of 21,850 hectares before 2025.
