Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, held a number of activities at Beiling Park on June 2 to welcome the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 7 this year.
The activities were divided into two parts: discussions on traditional culture and displays of traditional culture.
Bi Baokui and Bai Changqing, both experts from the Liaoning province’s Promotion and Steering Committee of the Confucius School, explained the traditional culture surrounding the Dragon Boat Festival.
Some classics from the Book of Songs were sung and Han-style Chinese clothing was showcased during the activity.
In addition, intangible cultural heritage items such as paper-cutting and clay figurines were showcased to promote traditional Chinese culture. People also had the chance to learn how to make rice dumplings.
