Longyou, a county in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, plans to build the first provincial-level specialty paper testing institution in China, local media reported on May 25.
The institution will integrate the functions of testing, technological development, standard establishment and public service for specialty paper makers in Zhejiang and even the whole country after gaining the approval of Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Market Regulation after one year.
Specialty papers are widely used in food, medical care, sanitation, mechanical engineering and building materials.
At present, many specialty paper manufacturers in Longyou lack complete testing equipment or standardized testing conditions.
“These paper making companies in Longyou need to send their products to other places to test before putting them into mass production,” said Chen Min, deputy director the management committee of Longyou Economic Development Zone, adding that it takes a lot of time and costs a lot.
Chen noted that the to-be-built institution will offer local businesses more professional, convenient and favorable testing services to boost their development.
As of now, the county houses more than 60 specialty paper making and paper processing companies with a gross output of over 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) in 2018.
