The city of Guangzhou launched a special action plan on May 30 to offer overall support for youth from Hong Kong and Macao who seek further development in the Guangdong province capital.
The action plan consists of five plans and one platform. It will support Hong Kong and Macao youth, aged between 15 and 44, in education, internships, exchanges, employment, entrepreneurship, and living.
This is the first policy supporting the development of Hong Kong and Macao youth that has been launched across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and will become valid on June 1.
Young people from Taiwan seeking further development are also covered by the policy and will be entitled to equal treatment.
According to the action plan, Guangzhou will set up a fund of 1 billion yuan ($145 million) to aid Hong Kong and Macao youth's start-up projects; build three youth innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration bases in three years; and offer 200,000 yuan rewards and subsidies for Hong Kong and Macao start-up projects settled in Guangzhou.
Guangzhou will also provide high-quality vacancies for Hong Kong and Macao youths to intern and work in Guangzhou, covering areas such as next generation information technology, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, internet-connected vehicles, as well as financial, legal, accounting, cultural, and creative industries.
The city will also offer personal income and housing subsidies, as well as set up an entrepreneurship and employment service center to provide a one-stop service for Hong Kong and Macao youths to develop in Guangzhou.
