National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC)
With an investment of 16 billion yuan ($2.32 billion), National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) is a large exhibition facility jointly built by the Ministry of Commerce and the municipal government.
NECC boasts a total construction area of 1.47 million square meters, among which 1.27 million square meters are above ground. It consists of exhibition halls, NECC Plaza, office buildings, and luxury hotels, offering services for exhibitions, conventions, events, commerce, office work, and accommodation.
The exterior of the NECC building draws inspiration from a mellow and auspicious "four-leaf clover," with the Commercial Plaza acting as the central core and the exhibition halls as the leaves. Blending with many Chinese elements and the design concept of a symmetrical axis layout, it is one of the landmark buildings in Shanghai.
The 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE) is schedule to kick off at NECC from Nov 5 to 10.
