Lijiang River Tourism Zone in Guilin
桂林漓江风景区(Guì lín lí jiāng fēng jǐng qū)
The Lijiang River, located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is a part of the Pearl River System.
Lijiang River is as beautiful as a classic Chinese ink and wash painting. The 83-kilomter journey from Guilin to Yangshuo is like a green belt wriggled between extraordinary mountains with incredible natural landscape, crystal water, inverted image of hills, deep pools, murmuring springs and waterfalls, forming a picturesque view of the typical Karst landform of the northeastern part of Guangxi. Inverted image is a natural wonder of the Lijiang River.
The moving water adds dynamics, life and soul to the mountains and brings people to a world of mythology. The Lijiang River is not only renowned for its unique scenes such as cyan mountains, crystal water, fantastic caves and beautiful stones, but also green islets, sand beaches, deep pools and waterfalls. The landscape of the Lijiang River varies according to the time, location and climate.
There are many great scenic spots in the Lijiang River Scenic Area. If time is limited, it is best to visit the most typical key spots: one river (the Lijiang River), two caves (Reed Flute Cave and Seven Star Cave), and three mountains (Solitary Beauty Peak, Fubo hill and Diecai Hill). These sites best represent the essence of the mountains and waters of Guilin.
In November 1982, the Guilin Lijiang River tourism zone was listed as the first batch of national-level scenic areas by the State Council. In December 1991, Lijiang River ranked second among the list of "The Best 40 Tourism Zones in China" released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China.
In November 1996, Lijiang River was listed as one of the 13 State-level key protection rivers across the nation. In July 1998, the Lijiang River was the first batch of the demonstration zones for tourism, civilization and culture in China.
