Westlake University launches summer camp

Westlake University, China's first private university aimed at cultivating high-level personnel in advanced technology in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, announced the launch of its 2019 summer camp on May 24.

Held from June to July, the camp features three – life sciences, physics and chemistry, and engineering – and plans to recruit 230 graduates from across the world.

The life sciences and engineering camps are open to undergraduates in 2020 while physics and chemistry group also includes 2020 graduates.

All entrees will not only have access to various activities, laboratories and other public instrument platforms during the summer camp, but also an opportunity to engage with professionals and heavyweights at the university on cutting-edge scientific research and development.

Scholarships are available for all entrees in the physics and chemistry group.

Eligible students can submit their application via the online system by attaching the required materials before the deadline. The admission list will be announced at the end of June by the university.

The research-oriented university, originating from the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study, was approved by the Education Ministry last February and held its founding ceremony on Oct 20, 2018.
