Datong, a city that aims to develop itself into a new energy hub in Shanxi province, recently started construction of a graphene and new materials energy storage industrial park.
With an investment of 2.5 billion yuan ($361.64 million), the park covers an area of over 28 hectares and a construction area of 14 ha.
Based on a graphene powder production project that uses dry physical catalysis, the park will focus on the research, development and application of graphene products, including the power supply of 5G mobile communications equipment, flexible display equipment, wearable physiotherapy products, and high-end anti-corrosion coatings, to build itself up into becoming a major graphene industrial cluster.
It is estimated that the park's annual output value will reach 10 billion yuan, with the total of the park's profit and tax contribution being 1.5 billion yuan once it goes into operation. More than 5,000 people are expected to find jobs in the park.
