Mobile payment is now available on more than 2,400 buses on 129 routes in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, according to the Shenyang Passenger Transport Group Co Ltd.
To use the service, people must first obtain the Shenyang Alipay bus e-card or log into the "Shenyang bus code" WeChat mini-program, which will allow them to pay bus fares in Shenyang by scanning QR codes with their phones.
Buses that allow commuters to pay bus fares with their phones will be clearly marked. To encourage more Shenyang residents to use the new service, the Shenyang Alipay bus e-card will launch several promotional events and discounts in June.
