Suzhou Suha Hospital in Suzhou New District of Suzhou, Jiangsu province opened on May 28, local media reported.
The name Suha is a combination of Suzhou and Harvard, as the hospital is a joint effort of the Suzhou Municipal Government and Harvard Medical School, according to Harvard Medical School professor Jon Einarsson.
Einarsson said that the two sides have signed a strategic cooperation agreement focusing on reproductive health and infantile autism, and hope that Suha will integrate more advanced medical technologies from home and abroad to aid in this effort.
Suha looks to grow into an innovative and influential hospital focusing on sports medicine, reproductive health, infantile autism, cardiovascular rehabilitation, telemedicine, and international referral, added Einarsson.
To date, roughly 20 top American sports medicine experts have finished their practicing procedures in Suha, and have performed operations for expatriates in Suzhou, according to David Adkison, director of Suha International Medicine.
The Suha Health Yangtze River Delta Innovation Center was also put into operation on the same day.
Jointly established by Suzhou Suha Hospital, the China Cardiovascular Association and the Scientific Research Institute of National Health Commission, the center will focus on sports medicine, cardiovascular rehabilitation, reproductive health, infantile autism, and smart healthcare.
Zhang Dongchi, director of the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, expects to include the innovation center in the Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute, which is currently being built.
