Jiangsu vows to benefit overseas Chinese by promoting TCM

Jiangsu's three-year action plan (2019-21) for benefiting overseas Chinese with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was jointly released by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government and Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine (JSHTCM) on May 22 during the second Jiangsu Development Summit.

Wang Hua, director of the province's Overseas Chinese Affairs, said that the action plan would mobilize the enthusiasm of all parties and make full use of resources in both overseas Chinese affairs and Jiangsu’s TCM.

China's first base for benefiting overseas Chinese with TCM was established in Jiangsu in December 2017 by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and JSHTCM. After more than a year’s development, the base has carried out various kinds of international communication and cooperation in TCM under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, bring benefits to people all over the world.

Wu Wenzhong, deputy director of JSHTCM, said that the base has deepened its international cooperation, opening medical treatment and training centers in 15 overseas TCM institutions in countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Singapore, Ireland, Canada and Thailand.

Wu added that the base has signed cooperation contracts on TCM publicity with Chinese media in 12 countries. The base has also become a communication center for TCM culture and a talent cultivation base for international TCM professionals.

The base has received more than 1,000 foreigners and overseas Chinese from 56 countries to experience TCM. Over 60 patients have received remote diagnosis and treatment, and over 100 foreigners have enjoyed the offline green channel for medical and inpatient services.
