New fencing center opens in Yangzhou

A new fencing training venue officially opened to the public in Yangzhou's sports park, Jiangsu province on May 26.

The 1,500-square meter fencing center has 11 internationally standardized fencing pistes which can accommodate provincial-level fencing competitions.

"People can learn about the origin, classification and etiquette of fencing at the center. They can also experience the sport's basic steps and movements," said Zhang Qian, director of the fencing center.

She also said that nearly 50 young athletes are currently training at the center in preparation for the 2022 Jiangsu sports meeting.

In addition to the fencing center, the sports park also has two stadiums and a swimming and diving hall, a comprehensive ball game hall, and outdoor football fields, tennis courts and basketball courts.
