Heng Swee Keat, Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister, paid an inspection tour to Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC) on May 27.
Zhang Shuofu, Party chief of Guangzhou, accompanied the deputy prime minister and talks were held between the two on boosting the construction of SSGKC.
Singapore attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Guangzhou, which plays an important role in promoting the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to Heng Swee Keat. He expressed hope that both China and Singapore can deepen exchanges, learn from each other, open up new areas of cooperation, explore new ways of cooperation, and jointly accelerate the development and construction of SSGKC.
Zhang noted that SSGKC construction has risen to a national-level bilateral cooperation project and is facing three major opportunities ahead - the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Sino-Singapore friendly cooperation. It is an important project for Guangzhou to inject new vitality to the city's development.
We must implement important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, strategic emerging industries, education and culture, and environment protection to strengthen institutional innovation and promote cooperation in major projects, industrial cooperation, and smart city construction, the Party chief noted.
